Posted on February 09 2024

Rose Morgan was an extraordinary woman, simply put.

 Rose Morgan

Early life of Rose Morgan

At the age of 10, she was already a business woman. She sold cut flowers and also did her friends and family hair. Later, she moved to New York to embark on her career as a hairstylist.

She ended up opening a hair salon called Rose Meta House of Beauty in multiple locations around New York in the 1940s. She was that girl when it came to getting your hair done. She did multiple celebrities hair such as Sarah Vaughan. She is known as the the owner of the largest beauty parlor for Black Women.

However, as a black woman she had issues with getting funding to expand her business. As a result, she and other business partners opened Freedom National Bank, for the people.

In an interview with Rose Morgan by Julieanna L. Richardson on January 28, 2002, she stated she “wants to be remembered for helping her community”.
